Festival Pop Montreal is less than a month away
Here is a fresh new name you might recognize from American Idol : Jacob Lusk. One of the most talented contestants to ever sing on Idol is going to be part of this year’s Festival Pop Montreal. The festival starts September 19th and Jacob Lusk will be performing some R. Kelly songs on September 22nd 8:00pm at Sala Rossa.
Public Enemy at the Olympic Esplanade
Expérience Montreal is a new family friendly Montreal festival and it will be starting August 24th. A massive Hip Hop concert is planned on the last night ( September 1st ) and none other than Public Enemy will be performing.
Other big names are Michel Pagliaro and Malajube, they will be on stage on the 24 and 25.
The Montreal International Reggae Festival 2012
Reggae is in town at the Old Port of Montreal Starting August 17th all the way to August 19th. The one and only Jimmy Cliff (a real Reggae Veteran) will be closing the festival on August 19th. This might be your one and only chance to catch Jimmy Cliff and if I were you, I would not pass out on that chance. You might not know who he is but I’m 100% sure you have heard his music in the past. Let’s refresh your memory.
The International Hot Air Balloon Festival of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu
This festival started August 11th and will be going on until the 19th. Already on day six tomorrow, Simple Plan will be performing at 9:15pm. Carly Rae Jepsen will be on stage this friday night at 8:45pm (August 13th). Of course, hundreds of hot air balloons will be filling the sky above you and it is not a sight you will want to miss.
Pop Montreal International Music Festival
Pop Montréal has been delivering some great festivals these past few years. This organization manages to gather a ton of talent year after year. Many of the artists showcased at Pop Montréal festivals move on to be greater bigger things. This festival runs from September 19-23. For a complete list of this years 600 artists (yes !! 600 !!) follow this link. Another great thing about this festival is the diversity of the venues used to showcase all these artists. It might take you to places you have never heard of before.

Another week, Another Festival !
The Montreal World Film Festival (Montreal International Film Festival) will have it’s opening night Thursday August 23rd 2012 at the Imperial. Maybe not the most popular festival here in Montreal but it is quite interesting to be able to attend world premieres right here in our city.
All the information about the different categories and contests have been announced on the festival’s website. One interesting thing is that there is also room for you to be the critic :
The festival-going public will be invited to vote for the films they liked best in different categories.
